Welcome in Christ’s Holy and precious  name to our ancient and historic little church, built of stones which have echoed with the Word of God and Christian worship for over 900 years.

What do we believe? Simple: ‘WE PREACH CHRIST CRUCIFIED…’ 1 Corinthians 1:23

We are  NON-denominational, and welcome sincere believers from ALL historical Christian creeds.

The preachers and teachers of the Templar Church of St. Mary Magdalene deliver uncompromising, traditional and Biblical Christianity - the ancient creed of our people

The very first church in the area was built by none other than St. Patrick himself, shortly after his arrival in Ireland in 432 A.D. The town’s Christian Abbey had considerable prestige on account of the close connection with Ireland’s revered patron saint Patrick.

After the Norman Conquest, it was rebuilt by the Cistercians in 1199 A.D. This was the monastic order founded by the Knights Templars’ spiritual advisor, St. Bernard of Clairvaux.

After the Reformation, the abandoned Abbey was destroyed, and its stone plundered by Scottish settlers to build and fortify their new town in 1620.

During our painstaking restoration of the little Church of St Mary Magdalene in recent years, we have uncovered various carved and dressed building stones which conservation and historical experts have confirmed do indeed come from the medieval abbey.

Just think of that – these stones resounded to Christian worship more than 900 years ago!

Our actual church building seems to have been built in the 1620s; local lore maintains that it was used as a secret place of worship. This was during the Penal Times, when Presbyterians and Catholics alike were banned from practicing their faith under the Anglican ascendancy.

Now fully restored and functioning, this small but very atmospheric traditional church has once again become a place in which the Word of God is preached – faithfully and without compromise or apology – in these increasingly apostate times.

We reject modernism, liberalism and all forms of Church apostasy.

Sadly, many of today’s ‘Clergy’ have turned from this true faith and now try to force-feed their shrinking flocks a poisonous mixture of heresies, lies and liberal nonsense. But this is not our way!

The Templar Church of St. Mary Magdalene exists to offer Bible-believing, Christ-serving, God-fearing Christians across the world regular Bible-true Sunday services and scriptural education.

We also have mid-week Bible study classes and in-depth podcasts to build up the believers to be strong in the faith: ”Ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the Saints.”   Jude 1: 3

Thank you for joining with us, praying with us and supporting our work of the great commission commanded of us by Jesus Christ our Lord when he told us:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19

Amen! Deus Vult – God wills it!

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Numbers 6:24-26
